Description
A gorgeous, cheeky reference to saltwater, with a water molecule accompanied by “floating” sodium (lapis lazuli) and chlorine (magnesite) ions. Like the water necklace in the molecular series, this water molecule is composed of an oxygen atom, represented by soft, watery teal Czech “dipped decor” druk glass, and two hydrogen atoms, represented by crackle glass. Silver plated wire composes the molecular model, which sits on a simple, silver plate chain.
Seawater is, of course, composed of much more than water and dissolved sodium chloride (table salt). It contains quite a load of dissolved minerals, gasses, organic matter, and other compounds. Sodium and chlorine are present at the highest concentrations, however, at a molarity of ~ 0.5. Magnesium, the mineral with the next highest concentration, is present at 1/10th that molarity.
